The Study Centre at MACBA has documented and photographed a vast number of ring binders by the artist Francesc Torres. We were asked to design an interface to enable researchers to view the documentation locally on computers at the study centre's library.

We wanted the interface to stay firmly in the background in order to foreground the work and accentuate the idea of looking at actual ring binders on a table. The interface features a zoom that lets you view the pages at approximately 1:1 scale. Typographically, we chose to use Akzidenz which we felt stays true to the type of work and the era, while at the same time it avoids replicating the aesthetic of the actual material.
